NOVEMBER 13 – 19, 2016
“Sing a new song to the Lord! Let the whole world sing to the Lord! Sing to the Lord and praise his name! Tell the good news every day about how he saves us!” (Psalm 96:1-2 ERV)
We each have a personal ministry to tell of the salvation news, the good news everyday. We ought to declare everyday that the Lord saves. He saves from eternal damnation and He saves from the challenging situations we face daily. Our declarations are not necessarily in words, but mainly by our actions, our deeds and our everyday living; the choices we make, the decisions we make and the judgements we make that are unconsciously stirred from the word of God that is inside us.
We can speak, write and sing about His saving power and people will be inspired, but ultimately, what will have the most effect on people is knowing that the reason why they want to hear us speak, write and sing is because they see the effects of His saving power in our lives. Has the word of God you have received changed you? It ought to! Has it changed you so much so that people are drawn to your life? “Lord, more than my words, let my life be what announces you everyday to those around me.”
Our ministry is our area of service. We serve our kingdom by carrying out whatever ministry has been assigned to us by God. If we all have a personal ministry to daily tell about the salvation of the Lord, it means that whatever it is that we do in this life, the ultimate purpose is to announce our Jesus so that the hearer or watcher can feel comfortable enough to trust Him and come to Him.
Therefore, I am not a banker first to make money for myself or even to make money to sponsor the gospel, I am a banker first to announce to my colleagues and the customers I come in contact with, the saving power of Jesus Christ. As I carry out my service with excellence, as I carry out my service with joy and satisfaction, as I relate with my colleagues and customers with respect, kindness and integrity, as I serve them with a smile, as I serve them with honesty and diligence;
As I release my value for the advancement of the organisation, as I serve my family with commitment, as I serve with transparency, as I serve with wisdom and understanding, as I serve with strength and honour, as I serve with love, joy, peace, faithfulness, goodness, gentleness, long suffering, meekness and temperance, as I serve with “Character,” I am announcing Jesus and demonstrating the effects of the salvation of God in me, such that they want to have what I have.
I sing unto the Lord a new song because of my fellowship with Him. My heart is gladdened. My heart is sweetened. My heart is full of praise and worship of my Lord because of His deep love for me, and because I have fallen in love with Him. I just want to know Him more. I want to hear Him speak to me. I want to be with Him all the time and enjoy His presence. Songs rise from within me, I cannot help it, I am in love with Him. I am in a place where my soul is thriving because I am feeding luxuriously on the food of God’s word, drinking the water He provides in His presence, and enjoying displaying the fruit His Holy Spirit produces in me.
As I abide in Him and His word abides in me, I am unconsciously announcing, declaring by my daily work, the salvation of my Lord.
I believe that God wants us to live “the life,” and not follow the rules. I believe He wants men to see Him in us and not just hear Him from our lips. I believe that everything we do has the ultimate purpose of giving Jesus to the world around us. And I believe that giving Jesus goes beyond starting a fellowship or inviting people to a meeting or telling them about Jesus. I believe giving Jesus is a lifestyle that is born from intimacy and fellowship with the word of God.
So my dear Reader, as your mind is being renewed in the place of intimacy and fellowship with the word of God, you effortlessly, unconsciously announce Jesus to your world.
I pray that the extravagant love of God and His great power to help you incredibly, will make you a true display window for Jesus, that the goodness that is seen in your life will attract your world to you. In the mighty name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth. Amen!! Enjoy this week completely unplugged for Jesus!!
