DECEMBER 4 – 10, 2016
“Praise GOD, everybody! Applaud GOD, all people! His love has taken over our lives; GOD’s faithful ways are eternal. Hallelujah!” (Psalm 117:1-2 MSG)
This Psalm right here is one of my favourite chapters in the bible. Just two verses but two absolutely powerful verses. I especially like the way the Message Bible translates it just so wonderfully. “Applaud God!” Doesn’t that make you want to put your hands together for the Lord? Doesn’t it make you want to just shout His praises? Glory hallelujah!!
The Lord deserves our applause. Not just because He is mighty and glorious, or because He is powerful and can make anything happen, but because His love for us is enough for us to applaud Him. His love is constant! It never changes. There is nothing we can do to make Him love us less. Nothing! Even when we were in the worse state towards Him, He demonstrated His love for us by giving up His son for us, His only begotten son.
His love for us is loyal! It towers over us! Another translation puts it this way, “His loyal love towers over us.” We can count on His love for us. We can depend on His love for us because it is loyal. Who doesn’t want a loyal friend? Loyalty is a quality that says, “I am for you no matter what!” Again, He proved that loyalty by giving up His only begotten son, Jesus, so that we can be together with Him and enjoy a successful life.
He didn’t stop at reuniting us back to Himself, He continued to demonstrate the loyalty of His love by setting in motion a permanent excuse for us when we make mistakes. “We are assured and know that [God being a partner in their labor] all things work together and are [fitting into a plan] for good to and for those who love God and are called according to [His] design and purpose.” (Romans 8:28 AMP). Hallelujah!
God is a master lover! We ought to applaud Him for that. His love has taken over our lives. Whatever He does for us, He does it from a position of love. Therefore, whatever it is that He directs, instructs, prompts or asks us to do, it is because of our benefit. And it is not attached to a condition, because His love for us is unconditional. No wonder He will never lay anything heavy on us. If you ever feel burdened by what you think the Lord has asked you to do, check it again, because He will never make any heavy demands on you.
Amazingly, for some, the more burdensome the demand is, the more they believe it is God, because man generally believes he needs to feel ‘burden’ as a determinant of his love for God. That’s why religion has gained so much ground. However, I believe that God’s people are beginning to come to really understand His love for them and accept His grace. “Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me – watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.” (Matthew 11:28-30 MSG)
So, my dear Reader, let us applaud God! Let us praise Him before all because He loves us very much and He will be faithful to us forever. Let us praise Him because His love for us is steadfast and it is new every morning. We don’t have to do anything for His love for us to be renewed every morning, it is just the demand and mandate He put on Himself. And it will last forever. So, if you ever make a mistake, never let the guilt of it keep you feeling you need to pay a price. Just remember that His love for you is constant, loyal, steadfast and faithful forever, no matter what! Now, go ahead and applaud Him.
I pray that from today until the last day of this week, you will experience victories that will strengthen your understanding of God’s love for you. In the mighty name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth! Amen! Rejoice and be happy this week! God bless you greatly!
