MARCH 11 – 17, 2018
“And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.” (Genesis 1:28 KJV)
In Genesis 49:1, Jacob gathered his children and said to them that he wanted to tell them what will happen to them in the days to come. What we know Jacob did was to pour out the blessing of God upon his life on his children; he distributed the blessing among his children. In the text, by blessing man, what God was actually doing was telling man what was to happen to him in the days to come.
Mary knew there was no way she could have a child unless the seed of a child was planted in her (Luke 1:34). God took care of that! Knowing what I know about God and the scriptures now, I believe there’s more to the Bible recording how the Holy Spirit will overshadow Mary and plant the seed in her womb, than so we know Jesus was the son of God. The Lord was trying to show us a process… if you are fruitful, it means you are seed full. And if that seed is going to become a fruit, it must go through a process of growth upon growth.
The seed must change form first in a quiet place. When someone gets born again, we quickly send them into the field to begin to evangelize others. But they are still in seed form!! There needs to be a stripping off of their old skin (old mindset – thought patterns and attitudes), and grown into a fruit first, before they can be set loose. They must be cultured, trained in the lifestyle and principles of the kingdom. When that happens, a natural process of multiplication takes place.
In the text, God was saying to Adam, I have put seed in you, now work that seed into a fruit – discover yourself, learn to manage your life here on earth, understand your purpose for being on the earth, let the light of the kingdom that is in you shine out of you, release the potentials in you, win your soul… then, you will birth others and train them in your culture and lifestyle, others will see your light, come to you and you will ‘culture’ them in your ways. Just as Jesus did!
One very notable thing is that, Adam himself was a seed!! After God blessed him in the text, God took him and planted him in a garden!! Genesis 2:15. If you say you have a garden, I’m not going to be thinking of animals but plants and flowers. Adam was supposed to bloom first before the seeds produced from him are planted else where – in every seed, there is a fruit, and in every fruit, there is a seed. Win your own soul first, bloom first and you will become useful to the kingdom. The fig tree was useless because it didn’t bloom – it had no fruit – and so, it was destroyed (Matthew 21:18-19). “He cuts off every branch of mine that doesn’t produce fruit, and he prunes the branches that do bear fruit so they will produce even more.” (John 15:2 NLT)
As a seed, Adam was to die first to the nature of his flesh and then, come alive with the nature of his spirit. We know the death of his flesh didn’t happen because of the fall. We know Adam did not win his soul for the kingdom of heaven first, because of the fall. We know that the light of the kingdom of heaven did not shine through Adam first, because of the fall. We know that the potentials in Adam to serve the kingdom of heaven were not released first, because of the fall. The tree of Life and the tree of Death were presented to Adam but he made the choice for death.
Dear Reader, life and death are continually being presented to us. As long as our own soul is not won; as long as we are not serving the kingdom of heaven; as long as we are not constantly being transformed by the renewing of our minds; as long as we cannot hear, recognize, listen to the voice of Jesus, and follow Him, we will make the choice for death… that small ‘godly’ lie here, that comparing ourselves to someone else there, that little cheat to get ahead of others here, that jealous thought there, that obedience to the voice of man against the voice of God… (Galatians 5:19-21).
If however we have bloomed first; if however, we have allowed the seed of the kingdom of heaven to become fruit in us first, we will make the choice for life (Galatians 5:22-23), and multiply life, fill the earth with life, subdue the earth for life and dominate the earth with and for life. Have you bloomed? Are you blooming? Bloom first!! The whole earth is waiting for life to fill it up. The whole earth is waiting to be rid of darkness. Bloom first! Let your light shine first!
I pray that the light of God will shine upon your heart, granting you the wisdom, understanding and strength to bloom and serve the kingdom of heaven without toiling. In the mighty name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth. Amen! Enjoy an excellent week!
