OCTOBER 9 – 15, 2016
“No doubt about it! God is good – good to good people, good to the good-hearted. But I nearly missed it, missed seeing his goodness. I was looking the other way, looking up to the people At the top, envying the wicked who have it made, Who have nothing to worry about, not a care in the whole wide world.” (Psalm 73:1-5 MSG)
Life can be really interesting sometimes, don’t you think? You look around you sometimes and you see those who do not know the Lord like you do, those who are clearly not born again, seem to prosper and excel at almost everything they do. You see that “wicked” boss or that badly behaved and arrogant colleague continue to get promotions while you, the “good,” reliable and loyal one remains in the same position.
You are trusting God, you pray and make declarations everyday, you do not join others to steal from the company, you do not cheat your clients like you know others in the industry do… But, they are getting ahead, and you are watching them from behind.
You are a “good” wife; you are submissive to your husband, you are understanding of him, you respect and revere him as the bible teaches you, but he continues to treat you badly and move around with other women, while someone else you know who does not play by the bible rules in her marriage seems to be having a glorious time.
Your friends are getting married one after the other; you know them, they have not kept themselves as the word of God teaches but the great suitors keep coming to them, and you the “good Christian girl” is once again a bridesmaid at their wedding. It seems like you’re almost invisible to the “good” men ready for marriage. Is there any use then to remain “good” when it seems like it is not working? What is God doing? Or are these the areas where we need to help ourselves by ourselves?
I have come to discover that the devil will continue to present these sorts of situations before us as a bid to distract us from trusting God. He will always try to make you think that life with complete trust and dependence on God is “foolishness.” He will try desperately to make you think that God needs you to help yourself just like the people of the world are helping themselves and getting wonderful results. Don’t believe it! It’s all lies! This is what he did to Adam and Eve in the garden, and we know the result of their believing him.
Listen, God is good! And He is good to those He calls His people. God is for you! Trusting Him will definitely come through for you. If you focus on the worldly success which fades away into sorrow and death, you will become distracted and miss God’s plan for you or delay the successful results you want.
Continue in your “good” character no matter what you see around you. Don’t even give their way of living and success a consideration because it always never ends well. Their success is temporary but the success God gives is everlasting.
I declare in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth that you will daily make great progress and prosper in all things. Amen! Enjoy your week fully!
