MARCH 5 – 11, 2017

“Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship.” ‭‭(Romans‬ ‭12:1‬ ‭NIV‬‬)

Did you ever wonder why the text states that we should offer our bodies?  If the Father is seeking for those who will worship Him in spirit and in truth, why is the text not asking us to present our spirits?

I have come to find out that without our bodies, God cannot fulfill His purpose for the earth.  Without our bodies, we also cannot fulfill the purpose we were created to fulfill.  Man is made up of three parts: spirit, soul and body.  In Genesis 1:26-28 after God created man, commissioned and blessed him to carry out a purpose in the earth, that man (spirit) could not function here on earth until God formed a physical body for him.  To stop man from fulfilling his purpose, the body must be cut off from the control towers where the Spirit of God is.  And so the serpent caused man to disobey God, causing the kingdom of God to lose control of the body.

God has all power to do whatever He wills on the earth but He needs the authority of a man in a body to do so.  This makes your body God’s weapon and your (spirit man) weapon.  Actually, this makes your body God’s greatest weapon and your greatest weapon on the earth (Jeremiah 51:20).  For without it, neither you nor God can fulfill purpose on earth.

I heard a very sad story of a young man doing great things for the kingdom of God, who “lost his body” to the wickedness of the enemy when he ingested expired medication. “Why do good people die young?” I’ve heard asked time and time again.  The simple answer is to stop them from doing good.  Once the body dies, the work of the person on earth ends.  If they had not completed their purpose, they will never have the opportunity to do so again.

“My people are destroyed for the lack of knowledge…” God says in Hosea 4:6.  In the case of their body, God’s people are losing their bodies because they have not known the purpose of their body and why they must choose right and make the right decisions for their body and with their body.  The lack of understanding of how to carry out a fast has caused many their bodies.  Not fully understanding Philippians 4:13 “I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me,” we overwork our bodies or allow other people to cause us to overwork our bodies, and then we expect God to keep it going.  God didn’t send us on that errand.

We must each know and understand how to care for our bodies.  We must each know and understand that our bodies need the renewing of our minds to the mind of Christ, so that it can carry out the purpose for which it was formed.  We must know and understand how to keep our bodies alive until we have fully completed our purpose on earth.  Jesus said “it is finished!”  Paul said “I have finished my course…” (John 19:30, 2 Timothy 4:7). Finish your course too.

Dear Reader, if you present your body a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, as your service to God, you will make the right choices and decisions for your body because you will not conform to anything that will cause you to lose your body.  If you are relevant to the kingdom of God on the earth, the angels of God will be mandated to protect your body, “For he will order his angels to protect you wherever you go.” (‭‭Psalms ‭91:11‬ ‭NLT‬‬)

I pray that this week and this month, you will make the right choices and decisions for and with your body.  In Jesus’ mighty name, Amen!  Have a fruitful week!  God bless you specially!

Wow! Wow! Wow! Yet another profound truth. I see why our bodies are the temple of the Holy Spirit. So everything we do with our bodies count….. Food, lifestyle, devotion, health, etc… Still pondering…
