JUNE 4 – 10, 2017
“It is the same with my word. I send it out, and it always produces fruit. It will accomplish all I want it to, and it will prosper everywhere I send it.”
(Isaiah 55:11 NLT)
Have you ever considered what is holding this universe together? Your answer could be “Laws,” and you would be right. However, how did these laws come about? Where did they come from? Words!! Every word spoken out of the mouth of God becomes a law. Whether you believe it or not, it will produce results. However, when it comes to a personal word, it’s your believing that makes it a reality.
Life is sustained by God’s word – PRINCIPLE OF SUSTENANCE. Therefore, we must know and believe God’s word, for us to be sustained. Sustenance doesn’t just mean staying alive, it also means living wisely and successfully. If we would just believe God, we would live wise and successful lives. We will deal wisely in the affairs of life. This is how God designed our lives to be. It is the way He designed for us to live – by His word.
It is very easy to say we believe God. If someone says “Just believe God,” our reply could be, “but I believe.” However, our speech gives us away. Our actions give us away. Our expressions give us away. Believing God is sticking to His word no matter what and not giving up. It is continuously speaking in line with His word even if our experience is contrary. Believing God is a thing to consciously practice because our life depends on it.
Practice makes perfect, they say. I have heard some others say, practice makes better. Well, that’s a place to start from. However, since we are on a journey to perfection, practice will get us to our destination when Jesus returns – perfection.
The more you drive a car, the better you become at driving. If you haven’t driven for a very long while, you may be a bit rusty when you try to drive again. There may be some traffic rules you are unaware of. You may have forgotten where the control that opens the fuel tank is… but after a while you begin to remember and drive better again.
Believing God is that way. It is a skill we need to teach our minds, and make our minds practice. Our minds need to be able to accept God’s word as law. The word of God does not always make sense to the natural man but if we would just accept it (believe it), we will experience what it says it would do for our lives, because that’s the way life is supposed to be lived.
Believing God means remaining at peace in our hearts no matter the storm around us. This comes by practice. No wonder the Bible constantly instructs us to meditate on the word day and night. It usually doesn’t stop with just mediate without the accompaniment of ‘day and night’ meditation. In other words, we are being instructed to practice believing the word without ceasing if we want to be sustained here on earth.
The more you practice, the more you believe. The word practice actually means to do something again and again in order to become better at it, or to live according to the customs and teachings of (a religion). In this case, to live according to the customs and teachings of the kingdom of God. Therefore, to practice believing God is to study about God, to study day and night in order to know His ways, His word, His principles, and to think of and speak day and night about what you’re studying.
Then, you will be wise and successful in everything you do, because your life will align with God’s will for you. “Always remember what is written in that book of law. Speak about that book and study it day and night. Then you can be sure to obey what is written there. If you do this, you will be wise and successful in everything you do.” (Joshua 1:8 ERV)
God was not created for us, we were created for Him and by Him. He created us to fulfill a purpose. For us to succeed in fulfilling His purpose, we must live by Him – the words that come out of His mouth. God wants us to be wise and successful in everything we do. He wants the world to see His wisdom, His prosperity, His success, His goodness, His greatness… in and through us. He knows that for that to happen, we have to believe whatever He says to us, and whatever He has said concerning anything. And so, He is constantly pointing us in the direction of believing. Just believe first, don’t consider how it will happen. Just accept it first. Remember, He has the power to make anything, ANYTHING happen!
Dear Reader, if you are going to be successful and deal wisely in the affairs of life, you must believe God. If you are going to live a full, rich and satisfying life that overflows to others, you must believe God. Therefore, you must daily practice to consciously choose to live by to His word. Will you practice believing God?
I pray that the word of God will prosper in your life. I pray that it will create realities that will cause you to make great progress this month as you practice believing it. In the mighty name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, Amen!! God bless your week specially!
