OCTOBER 15 – 21, 2017
“I told you my plans and you replied. Now give me your instructions. Make me understand what you want: for then I shall see your miracles. If you will only help me to want your will, then I will follow your laws even more closely.” (Psalm 119:26-27,32 TLB).
There is a general thinking that we are responsible to create the life we want to live. We decide how we want our lives to be and then we get to work creating it. I thought this way for a very long time until I found out from the word of God that God already created the life He wants me to live.
What is necessary for me to do, is to discover the life God already planned out for me and walk in it. “For we are God’s [own] handiwork (His workmanship), recreated in Christ Jesus, [born anew] that we may do those good works which God predestined (planned beforehand) for us [taking paths which He prepared ahead of time], that we should walk in them [living the good life which He prearranged and made ready for us to live].” (Ephesians 2:10 AMP). One truly great thing about this life that God already pre-arranged for us is that it is a good life.
Have you ever said “I told God…”? I know I have! And I have heard people say that too. It’s like your car telling you “I told Toyota that I want touch ignition.” That would really be weird wouldn’t it? It’s the same thing with us and God! God is the one that should be telling us and showing us, not the other way round. The psalmist in the text told God His plans… some other translations read that he told God his ways and he told God all that had been happening to him. In other words, all that had been happening to him were unpleasant, and they came as a result of his doing things his own way. After he tells God his plans, the bible says God replied. But what did God say?
I couldn’t find God’s response in any of my translations. However, I suspect what it was from the psalmist’s next words. The psalmist asked for God to make him understand what God wants for him because then, he will see miracles! So, it’s not out of place to believe that God’s reply directed him to seek after God’s plan for him rather than wanting God to bless the plans he mapped out for himself. We are God’s created beings, He created each of us to fulfill a specific purpose. We will never experience fulfillment in life until we are walking in the purpose He created us for. God’s pre-arranged plan for your life contains all the good things you could ever desire in this life. God knows good things and He wants each of us to have them. He wants us to have the best! And He has mapped out a road we must each walk in to enjoy it all.
The psalmist further asked God to help him want God’s will, for then he will follow God’s laws even more. The power of God to help you dear Reader, is incredibly great, “Yes, it is God who is working in you. He helps you want to do what pleases him, and he gives you the power to do it.” (Philippians 2:13 ERV). If we would recognize His presence in our lives and be rest assured that He is in us to ensure that we succeed, we will see His mighty hand directing us from one place of glory to another.
God wants us to live a great and excellent life! He wants it for us, even more than we want it for ourselves. As we walk closely with Him, focusing on knowing and walking in His will for our lives, we will see miracles! Proverbs 3:5-6 assures us of that.
So, my dear Reader, be committed to your walk with God. Be committed to the presence of God. If we claim to be in the light, to be children of God, then let us be committed to walking in the light. Let us be committed to being His children. Be committed to humbling yourself under the mighty hand of God. Be committed to knowing and following the voice of God. Be committed to the voice of God weighing more in your life than the voice of man. Be committed to living the fulfilled life, which is commitment to God’s plan for your life – the place where you see miracles.
Dear God’s-own-master-piece, I declare that you will see miracles this week! I bless you with strength to walk with God and work with God. In the mighty name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth. Amen!! Have an amazing week seeing miracles!
