Hello,

In this week’s Inspirational Truth, “UNLEARN THIS!” I write about the way God designed for us to live on the earth. That is why we must put in the effort to get rid of anything that will stand in the way of our living as God intends for us to. I encourage you to read it and share it with others. I would also love to read your thoughts, kindly leave me a comment. Thank you! READ

Finding Purpose – Part 2

Finally!! Part 2 of Finding Purpose is out!

01edd52425868b1ebe513d30a2662382162aeaa9a5_00001

If you want to know the purpose of a thing, who do you go to? You go to the creator of that thing. Only the creator can tell you why he created it, what he created it for and the functionality of the thing.

If however, you get the information from somebody else, that person either obtained the information from the creator in person, or read the creator’s manual. The person could also just be assuming based on his/her use of something similar. In this case, the abuse (abnormal use) of the thing is inevitable.

It is the same with us humans. There is a purpose for mankind. There is a purpose for the creation of YOU in particular, and only your creator, GOD can tell you your true purpose. Getting this knowledge from anywhere else will surely result in the abuse (abnormal use) of your gifts and talents (your functionality). Your gifts and talents are given to you to fulfil your purpose.

For a very long time, I felt very unfulfilled with my life. I knew my life had a purpose and I even had an idea of what it was but I just couldn’t get myself to begin living it. I tried to learn from many different books but with some of them, I was even more confused because most of them would ask me what me loved to do. Problem was, I loved to do quite a few things. Which one exactly is it?

When I just couldn’t take it anymore, I sat down with my bibles (I like to study with different translations of the bible), iPad, notebook and pencils, and then I said “Father God, I need to know. I need to know. Open my life up to me. Show me who exactly I am. Holy Spirit, the Bible says you will lead me into all truth. Lead me into the truth of who I am. I am ready to know.” That began a very beautiful journey of discovery.

I discovered that the Lord had been waiting for me to discover me. He needed me to know who I am more than I ever wanted to know. The whole of creation is waiting for the manifestation of the sons of God. If the sons of God do not know who they are, what are they manifesting?

Until you know exactly what purpose you have been created for, you will not be able to affect your world with your light. You will not be able to eliminate the darkness in your world; God has given you solutions in your purpose to eliminate the darkness in the world around you.

Where exactly do I go to study in the bible to find out my purpose? You’re probably thinking. Well, the bible lets us know that as He is, so are we in this world. The question is “How is He?” Those were the thoughts that came to me.

I felt inspired in my spirit to go to the beginning, Genesis, to begin answering the question. I acted like I had never known God and was learning about Him for the first time. And oh my! What a discovery! As I began from Genesis 1, the Holy Spirit began to open up different passages to me.

I came out of that quest with a mission statement for my life; to inspire and empower others live fulfilled lives. And now, I help others discover their purpose using their creator’s manual (the Bible) with the very present help of the Spirit of the creator, the Holy Spirit, leading them into the truth of who they are.

I am a firm believer that the discovery of your purpose is the discovery of your money, your wealth. So, get ready for when you discover your purpose, you will surely discover your wealth.

More on your purpose and your wealth in my next post.

Behind the Curtains

Behind the curtainsI sat still after a movie ended at the cinema, just taking my precious time to lounge a little while and also wait for the crowd to rush out like they usually do.

Hmmm!!!

With nothing really interesting happening around, I fixed my gaze on the giant screen and browsed through as the roll call of the people I like to call the hidden performers scrolled through.

So I thought it would be interesting to recognize a new or two. The list went on: Writers                                                                                                                            Producers                                                                                                                         Directors                                                                                                          Cinematographer Photography/cinematography                                                            Film or Picture Editors                                                                                                       Sound Designers                                                                                                     Casting Director                                                                                                             Unit Production Manager                                                                                        Assistant Directors                                                                                                          Location Managers                                                                                                         Key Production Assistant                                                                                              Production Accountants                                                                                                    Publicists                                                                                                                  Production Designer                                                                                                         Art Director                                                                                                              Publicity Designer                                                                                                             Key Makeup Person                                                                                                      Key Hairdresser                                                                                                             Set Costumers                                                                                                               Set Decorators                                                                                                          Director of Photography                                                                                              Camera Operators
Continuity Stills Photographer                                                                              Documentary Videographer                                                                                        Gaffer(lighting designer)                                                                                            Electrician                                                                                                              Mixer/Recordist                                                                                                           Location sound engineer                                                                                                  Key Grip                                                                                                                       Other Grips                                                                                                                                                                                                         Etc

While I recognized no one, I felt a proud moment when I saw an indigenous name and thought ‘o! that’s my homie’.

Well as I savored that moment, I thought about how very little known some of these people are. People who actually make things happen behind the scene and help create the great moments behind movie cast nominations and awards.

As my thoughts went on, God began to speak to my heart.

Not everyone in life will get the upstage roles, not everyone will be the limelight of the world, not everyone will stand in front of a pulpit on Sunday morning. We all won’t get the loud ovations or the glory and praise that come with some roles in church or life at large.

Some are given assignments and roles in life that support the success of others. Some are the pillars way deep down in the ground that hold up the glam and celebrated lives of other people or institutions.

Some are called by God to stay still like Moses and others like Aaron and Hur holding Moses’ hands up, while the Joshuas of life are out on the battle ground.

Some will never be publicly recommended or awarded any special recognition for the work they do.

Yet the production will never be complete without the input of all of us. The curtains will never be pulled back, the words will never be heard, the sounds will never scream out, the crowds will never gather and the ovation and all the glory will never come to pass!

God has called each of us to play different roles on the stage called life!…and each member of God’s production crew is given a gift and called/ordained to perform a unique and vital role.

Just because you don’t play the lead role doesn’t mean your part is paltry.

Even though you’re not the ‘face of success’ in your field of labor; your role is important and you should regard it with utmost pleasure and pride!

We ought to permit God to shine through your commitment to whatever tasks He’s assigned to us, upstage or behind the curtains.

We have to stay conscious of the fact that our individual paths in life are connected to get us all to a common destination – the fulfillment of His purpose.

We need to learn to appreciate one another; to cheer each other along and celebrate our successes in life.

“For just as we have many members in one body and all the members do not have the same function, so we, who are many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another. Since we have gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, each of us is to exercise them accordingly” ~ Romans 12:4-6

Finding Purpose – Part 1

01edd52425868b1ebe513d30a2662382162aeaa9a5_00001I read a lot! I love reading. I love to research things and learn new things. I especially love to teach what I learn. I am a traditional reader. I prefer to read books in paper form. When I read, I jot down my thoughts, underline, highlight and stick post-it notes on the pages of the book.

In addition to Christian and Inspirational books, I read a lot of Management books as well. A couple years ago, I started reading biographies. If I had $1000 (one thousand dollars), I could spend it all on books and feel completely satisfied.

I love to read the bible. I have quite a number of bibles in different translations and I will be acquiring more.  There’s still a lot out there I don’t yet have. When I study the bible, I use “study bibles” but you know, the most interesting part for me is checking out verses in the different bible translations I have. I find that I get great understanding by doing so. In all your getting, get understanding, right? This helps!

Of course, the Holy Spirit is there to guide me, because sometimes, a bible verse may not be accurately translated by even the most popular translations. I always encourage people to buy bibles in different translations, as led by the Holy Spirit. And now, I am advising you to do the same! And use them! They are not to be displayed as home library decoration.

I read in the biography of E.W. Kenyon by Joe McIntyre, that his brother at some point during the start of his ministry said to him, the one who helps the people is the one who knows and preaches the Word of God.” That inspired me to delve deeper in my study of the bible. I believe that as the catalyst for growth and development, we women need to know the Word of God. We are here to help! Everyone of us have a people we have been sent to – no matter how small, how large, even if it is just one person – the knowledge of the Word of God will help us help them.

Have I read the bible from cover to cover? No, I haven’t! Have I tried to do so? Yes, I have? So, what happened? Why haven’t I still read the bible from cover to cover? I believe that the Lord works with each of us in very specific ways, depending on the purpose we are here in this life to fulfill. I believe that at very specific times in our lives, if we allow Him guide us, rather than be guided by principles, not only will we achieve more in our lives but we will focus on the relevant things. Please don’t misunderstand me, principles are great and important, but without the guidance of the Holy Spirit… (With every step you take, think about what he wants, and he will help you go the right way. Proverbs 3:6. ERV)

Not every word or story in the bible is relevant to me fulfilling my purpose, and so, the Holy Spirit is not going to be focusing my attention on them. Hun! Well, it is what I have discovered. There are a lot of passages I come across as I study but don’t quite have a full understanding of. Initially, I would try and try to understand those areas. I have even gone out to buy a new bible I thought would help me understand the passage, but still my understanding wouldn’t go deeper than I already had.

One day, I heard the voice of the Spirit of God within me say “Stop trying. Focus on where I open your understanding in.” You know, when you initially here such words, it’s hard to believe because God must most definitely want us to know everything in the bible, so, get thee behind me Satan.  Anyway, I knew it was His voice and so I believed and left those areas alone. I learnt from E.W. Kenyon that when I study, I should ask the Holy Spirit to open the bible up to me and make it a living thing in my spirit. I have found that it helps my focus as to areas to study in the bible.

It is most important for me to state here that I discovered my purpose from studying the bible. I had tried in the past to follow the steps written in books on how to discover one’s purpose, but I would get really confused with some of them because I couldn’t put my finger on exactly what I was called to do, out of the number of things I wanted to do. One day, in my cry to God to make me what He wants me to be, He opened some scriptures up to me in the bible that led me to my purpose.

More of how I discovered my purpose in my next post.

Becoming YOUer – the best version of you

Welcome to the month of March!!

This month I want to begin focusing on finding purpose and the fruit of the Spirit.

There is a version of you that God sees. This version of you is the best version of you. It is the YOU that is living out her purpose. It is the YOU that puts on display, the fruit of the Spirit (But the fruit that the Spirit produces in a person’s life is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control… Galatians 5:22-23. ERV).

Which you are you right now? The YOU you would rather not be or the best version of you? Take some moments to think about it.

You will always be you! What I mean is that, the best version of you is not a different person. The best version of you is the you that is more you. As you grow in the best version of you, you are not less you. You are only YOUer. Let us move towards being more of who we truly are as we find purpose and develop the fruit of the Spirit this month.

Did you ever love reading? Do you love reading? Do you read? Most people who do not like to read become lazy or interested in reading the bible. They prefer for the bible to be taught them by someone else who reads it. But what we need to know is, that someone else will interpret the bible to us based on their understanding, which is inspired by their purpose.

No one person knows or understands everything in the bible. We understand only what the Holy Spirit reveals to us. And that depends on our purpose. It is the reason why there are different ministers to certain people, certain places, with a certain message to be delivered in a certain way. The person ministering the Word of God to you right now, may not be the person sent to you!

In other words, his/her message may not be unlocking the you that you are to be – the best version of you. Why does everyone else get blessed and record great testimonies from the message of this minister, but not you? Why are you struggling with experiencing victories, when you seem to be doing everything right? Of course, there may be other reasons, but I have come to discover that it most likely is because that minister is not your gift.

The bible speaks about the five-fold ministry gifts to men, in Philippians 4:11 (apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors and teachers). Gifts to men! Are you with the right gift? Which gift do you require now? As you study the bible, the Holy Spirit will lead you to your gift or lead your gift to you. The bible says in Romans 12:2 that, as we are transformed by the renewing of our minds, through the study of the word (2 Corinthians 3:18), we will be able to prove (our lives will align with) that which is the good, acceptable and perfect will of God for your life.

My questions for you today are:

  1. Are you living out your purpose?
  2. Are you being the best version of you?
  3. Do you read the bible constantly and intentionally?
  4. Are you being ministered to by your ministry gift?

Spend some time to ponder on these questions, honestly and humbly asking the Holy Spirit to guide you in answering them.

If you answer “Yes” in any of the questions: Wonderful! Keep that answer a “Yes”, and inspire others to also have a “Yes” answer. But if you answer “No” in any of the questions, you need to turn that “No” into a “Yes” by taking action now!

How do you take action?

  1. Make Jesus the Lord of your life. (So here’s what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life – your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking –around life – and place it before God as an offering… Romans 12:1. MSG).
  2. Start reading the bible with the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Ask the Holy Spirit to open up the Word to you and make it a living thing in your spirit.  (Don’t become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You’ll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you. Romans 12:2. MSG).
  3. Believe and do whatever the Holy Spirit leads you to do, knowing that He has empowered you to do it. (Yes, it is God who is working in you. He helps you want to do what pleases him, and he gives you the power to do it. Philippians 2:13. ERV).

For real, do you know…

At the start of the journey of the discovery of my purpose, I fell in love with a song by Diana Ross that opens with “Do you know where you are going to.”  It is so inspiring to me. As I continue on my journey I sing the song to myself from time to time.  It forces me to examine where I am at that moment and measure it against my purpose, so I can make the right changes if required.

I sing just the chorus though, which is actually all I need, plus I made a slight change to it.  It goes like this: “Do you know where you’re going to, do you like the things that life is showing you, where are you going to, do you know?  Do you get what you’re hoping for, when you look around you there are no open doors, what are you hoping for, do you know?”  I may not exactly know Diana Ross’ thoughts behind the meaning of the song, but I’ll explain what these words mean to me.

Think about what you are doing.  Think about where you are in your life.  Are you satisfied?  Are you confident of where your life is taking you?  Does everything seem alright in your life to onlookers but in your quiet moments you snuggle up in a corner, in frustration wishing your life could change by some miracle or wishing it would end?  Do you cry out for help in your bedroom when no one else is watching?  Where is your life headed, do you know?  Are you happy with what you see ahead in your future?

What about what you are hoping for, do you get it?

Have you heard that hope keeps one alive?  What you are hoping for is not what you say. What you are hoping for is what you believe, it’s what you think and eventually, it’s what controls your life, what manifests in your life. Do you say you are hoping for a great future but looking around you there’s no joy or peace, no open doors to lead you into that great future?

By open doors I don’t just mean that you have the manifestation of what you are hoping for, it could just be that you have the peace, assurance, confidence that everything is working out just fine.  It could be that even if physically, things are still not as you want them to be, in your heart you can see a bright light all around you or a glimpse of light that assures you that everything’s going to be just fine.

This means you trust the Lord so much that you remain fulfilled no matter what.  You are just so fulfilled and happy with your life because you know exactly where you are headed.  Therefore, you can just as Paul did, boldly declare that you have learnt to be content in all things.

Just take a while to look into what you are really hoping for.  In other words, what do you really believe about your future?  You may be very fearful of the future, very unsure of the future. You may just really believe that there is no hope for your future because you have made so many mistakes in the past or experienced a lot of disappointments, or someone told you you’ll never amount to anything good. Listen, you cannot separate what you believe from what you hope for.  The direction of your believing determines the direction of your hope.

I want you to never forget this “You give what you believe the power to control your life.”

If your believing is right, your hoping will be right and when you look around you there’ll be open doors.  You may like what you say you’re hoping for but does what you believe align with what you say you’re hoping for?  If you are not getting what you say you are hoping for (you are not seeing the open doors), then it’s time to examine what you really believe.

If what you are hoping for does not align with what you believe, no matter how confidently you try to talk about what you are hoping for, there will always be this thought in your heart wishing that you actually believed what you’re saying or you will be fearfully praying in your heart for what you are saying to come to pass. So, what do you really believe?

Dear Sister, ask yourself what you really believe concerning your life.  Write down your belief.  Are you doing that confidently?  Are you even able to write down anything?  Are there any negative thoughts?  I have been there and out.  I want to help you.

Talk to me privately in the form below.

#ThankfulMe. #ThankfulThru2015

I entered into 2015 very excited because the Lord had told me that 2015 will be a year of Thanksgiving for me.  Now, if it is going to be a year of Thanksgiving, it means there will be victories to thank God for.  Yayy!!

Well… victories means there will be challenges to overcome. Uhh!!  Why can’t we just have the victories without the challenges.  Bright side!  As a woman after God’s own heart, I know from James 1:2-4 to count it all joy when there is a challenge because it is a testing of my faith, and the testing of my faith makes me mature and complete so that I do not lack anything. (Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. James 1:2-4. NIV).

The bible also says in 1 Thessalonians 5:18, that we should give thanks in all circumstances because it is the will of God for us in Christ Jesus.  (Whatever happens, always be thankful. This is how God wants you to live. ERV).

Always be thankful means be thankful for ALL things – whether they look good or bad.  This reminds me of Romans 8:28.  (And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them. Romans 8:28. NLT).

I decided to consciously look out for opportunities to be thankful everyday of 2015 and it has been amazing!!  Thankfulness produces victories and more victories!  I had a need and was thankful I had the need, because it meant the supply was around the corner and true to my thankfulness (if there’s a phrase like that), the supply came!  I even feel and look younger!  A thankful heart is a merry heart, and a merry heart does good like medicine.  (A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones. Proverbs 17:22. KJV).

So, can I challenge you, dear Sister, to be thankful everyday of 2015 no matter what?  Will you join #ThankfulMe and be #ThankfulThru2015?  Yes?

Great!  Leave a comment telling what you are thankful for right now.

If you are pressed for time and are unable to type what you’re thankful for, just use the hashtag #ThankfulMe.
