THE TAXI DRIVER

DECEMBER 10 – 17, 2017

“And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him.”
(‭‭Romans‬ ‭12:1‬ ‭NLT‬‬)

Imagine with me for a moment.  A passenger gets into a taxi, expecting the taxi driver to take him to the place they have both agreed the taxi driver will take him to, based on the passenger’s request.  If the taxi driver however, takes the passenger to a different location, the taxi driver has breached the agreement.  You know there will surely be a problem, because the taxi driver has failed to acknowledge the passenger.  He has failed to acknowledge that for the moment, the passenger is his boss.  And, if he wants to get paid, he must acknowledge who’s the boss and submit to the boss’ instructions.

We (humans) are as the taxi driver, Jesus is the passenger, and our body is the taxi.  As taxi drivers, we do not dictate to Jesus where we want to take Him to, we listen and submit to the His instructions.  If we will not follow the passenger’s instructions, then we are indirectly saying, we cannot serve the passenger.  Are we then expecting to get paid?

To acknowledge also means to submit.  In Luke 17:11-19, the ten lepers had to first acknowledge (submit) to the instructions of Jesus, before they received the reward of healing.  It was in further acknowledging (recognition and gratitude) Jesus’ hand in His healing and his gratitude to Jesus for his healing that brought to the grateful healed leper the reward of wholeness.  If we would submit to Jesus, recognize His hand in our lives and be thankful to Him, He will direct us and crown our efforts with success.

Jesus said in John 10:10, that He has come to give us life and also for us to enjoy life abundantly.  In other words, He has come for us to have and enjoy a full, rich and satisfying life that overflows to others.  If we fail to acknowledge (recognize and submit to) His presence in us, how then do we expect to get to the place of enjoying life abundantly?  When we let Him into our taxi, we agreed that He would be the boss; we agreed to His lordship and leadership.  And, the price we agreed He would pay us is life and the enjoyment of life.

Hmm… if Jesus is in your life and you are not enjoying a full, rich and satisfying life that is overflowing to others, could it be it is because you’re driving Jesus to the location you think He should be going to and not the location He is directing you to?

Jesus is boss!  We are to submit to His lordship and leadership.  If you are one of those telling Jesus the way you want things to be, you need to stop and ask Him how He wants things to be.  He knows exactly what you need.  He knows where exactly you should be going to and how you are to get there.  Don’t be one of those arguing with Him where you should be driving Him to, saying “I told God…”  You’ll be going no where that way.

Jesus gave up His life so that you can become His taxi driver.  He needs your taxi to carry out His work here on earth.  In return, He pays you with eternal life; life full, rich and satisfying, that others can benefit greatly from.

Dear Reader, acknowledge God in your life by being His committed and loyal taxi driver. Offer Him your body!  He is present in your life to ensure that you succeed.  Acknowledge Him by renewing your mind so that you can hear clearly as He gives you directions to get you to your place of enjoyment of life in abundance.

#MYPRAYERFORYOU

I pray that you will give Jesus your everyday, ordinary life – your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life, and fix your attention on Him. I pray that you will readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond to it. In the mighty name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth. Amen!! Have a wonderful week dear taxi driver!
