“Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” ‭‭(Matthew‬ ‭5:16‬ ‭KJV‬‬)

The question we seek to answer from last week’s Inspirational Truth “WAS THERE MAN BEFORE ADAM?” is, How do we eliminate the darkness in our world?  We know that the manifestation of light expels darkness.  Two verses before the text states that we are the light of the world.  Therefore it’s the shine of our light that eliminates darkness.  How does that happen?  From the text, the shining of our light for all to see is our doing good works.

Ephesians 2:10 lets us know that God created us to do good works.  Therefore, as we do the good works we were created to do, our lights shine.  No matter how great the works you are doing is, if it is not the good works God created you to do, it is nothing but a complete waste.  Everyone of us has been given gifts to unwrap and reveal to the world.  Our gift reveals, unveils a personality of God, an expression of God.  As we unwrap and use our gifts right, we are doing the good works we were created to do.

Just as the lamp in Matthew 5:15 will not give its light to everyone if it is put under a bowl instead of on its stand, we must unwrap and use our gift for the purpose it was given to us, for men to be able to see our good works and glorify God.  I’m sure there are people who you see use their gifts and you glorify God.  There may also be others who you see use their gifts but you consciously decide to separate the person from their gift so that you can enjoy the gift, otherwise, it’s hard for you to do so because of their character.

Only when our gifts are being used for the right purpose is its power to reveal God and eliminate darkness activated.  A life that is not revealing God is an unfulfilled life.  The carrier of the gift has either buried their gift like the third servant in Matthew 25, or is using it wrongly, which both result in not revealing or unveiling the personality of God they are to express to the world.  This is the reason many feel dissatisfied with their lives.  I know I felt this way until I finally discovered my purpose and started using my gift right.

I had an experience some years back where the Lord opened my spiritual eyes and showed me two long lines of beautiful cars parked in someone’s backyard.  The owners of the cars had unknowingly traded their beautiful cars for rickety old cars.  The beautiful cars represented the vehicle through which God planned for them to fulfill their purpose, while the rickety cars represented them fulfilling the personal ambition of the person whose backyard their beautiful cars were packed in.  Their light had become dim in the rickety vehicles because they were not fulfilling the purpose of God for their life.

The Lord then showed me some people with light shining out very brightly from inside them.  If there was darkness anywhere they moved to, it was immediately eliminated by the shine of their light.  Their light also caused the lights of others to begin to shine.  They didn’t seem to be doing anything extraordinary for their lights to shine effortlessly.  The brighter the shine of their light, the more the darkness around them disappeared.  Then I heard the Lord tell me that for our lights to shine brighter and brighter, we must know exactly who we are, we must know who He is that lives inside us and His power, and we must acknowledge His presence and His purpose for living in us.

Dear Reader, are you doing the good works God created you to do?  Have you unwrapped your gift?  Are you using your gift right?  Are you revealing God to your world?  Are you fulfilling God’s purpose for your life or are you helping man achieve his personal ambition?  Let your light shine and eliminate the darkness in your world by doing the good works God created you to do. Get on the pursuit of knowing exactly who you are, who He is that lives inside of you and His power, and acknowledging His presence and purpose for living in you.

I pray that you will do the good works God created you to do, and that all will see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.  In Jesus’ mighty name, Amen!!  Have an exciting and fulfilling week.
