FEBRUARY 4 – 10, 2018

“The beginning of Wisdom is: get Wisdom (skillful and godly Wisdom)! [For skillful and godly Wisdom is the principal thing.] And with all you have gotten, get understanding (discernment, comprehension, and interpretation).” (‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭4:7‬ ‭AMP)

Understanding seeks the answer to the question, “What does this meaning?” Or What is the meaning of this?”

When Joseph first stood before Pharaoh in Genesis 41:15, it was to give the answer to the question that bothered Pharaoh.  The question was “What is the meaning of my dreams?” Pharaoh sought to understand what his dreams meant.  Never settle without understanding.

With understanding comes solutions, results.  I always tell my children that the key to solving a problem, is understanding the problem.  The key to answering a question, is understanding the question.  If you have not understood a question, your answer will most probably be wrong.  By not properly understanding the actions or words of another, people have done terrible things to themselves and others.  By not properly understanding the word of God, people have lived less than God’s plan for them.  People have been killed because of a misunderstanding.  And the misunderstanding came as a result of someone not being patient enough or knowledgeable enough to find out the truth, to gather the full details.

People have hated each other for years on years because of a little misunderstanding.  Someone said something and the other person assumed they meant something else. When people fail to ask the question, “What does this mean?” They carry on with assumptions that can lead to great pain.  A simple “Why did you do that?” would save a life time of hurt and pain.  Don’t settle, put in the effort to get clarification.  A few minutes of getting understanding, could save ten years of heartbreak.

Many have wanted to ask for clarification but have been too afraid to do so.  That’s a strategy of the enemy.  If you’re too afraid to ask, you’re at the mercy of others.  To some, asking for clarifications is like a taboo.  God made us free moral agents.  This means we are free to ask even God for clarification so that we can make well informed decisions, choices and judgement (Proverbs 25:2).  Why would you let man withhold that from you?  It’s time to begin to ask questions.  If you are told, “It is too high for you,” it is because someone does not want you to understand.  But the text instructs you to get understanding…

To comprehend is to grasp the nature, significance, or meaning of something.  To discern is to grasp and comprehend what is not clearly seen, understood or expressed.  To interpret is to explain or tell the meaning of something in understandable or clear, distinct terms.  These highlighted words are used in the text to give us a clear meaning of understanding.  Pharaoh sought to understand his dreams.  He not only received the understanding of his dreams, he also received the solution to solve the problem revealed in his dreams.  When there is understanding, solutions are revealed.  When one can grasp the meaning of something clearly, the solution presents itself right there.  Remember, the key to answering a question is understanding the question or the key to solving a problem is understanding the problem.

Dear Reader, get understanding!  Take action!  Ask questions, research… don’t commit without understanding.  Ask the Holy Spirit to give you understanding of the word.  Remember, your life is sustained by the word of God.  See PRINCIPLE OF SUSTENANCE.  If you don’t understand it, how are you going to believe it and live by it.  The Holy Spirit leads us into all truth; He opens up the truth of wisdom for us to understand.

I pray that your heart will seek after understanding and you will not be afraid.  I bless you with the boldness and courage to ask questions for understanding.  I pray that the Holy Spirit will show you crystal clear, the steps you should take for your victorious living.  I pray that you excel and achieve your dreams.  In the mighty name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth.  Amen!  Enjoy a week of clarity.
